Cakes of the silver screen at Chichester Clandestine Cake Club

Having done book cakes  and song cakes  our July meeting saw us turn our oven to film cakes – a theme chosen by Clandestine Cake Club member Jan whose birthday landed on the date of our gathering.

Our hosts for the evening was the beautiful Earl of March which we all admitted we’d be returning to preeeetty quickly.

For my creation I couldn’t resist returning to my love of all things dinosaurs and the result was this…

A simple choc fudge sponge it might have been, but with matchmaker fence, flake logs and mint-leave-chocolate-button-bushes I think I ‘pimped’ it quite successfully. Thanks to the manfriend for letting me raid his roof and childhood toy collection for the prehistoric stars of the show/cake.

As much as I find these themes tricky, as it doesn’t necessarily dictate a flavour, I do love the surprise of seeing everyone’s results.

Birthday girl Jan went for this bejewelled number..

Laure took Chocolat to beautifully rich levels..

Louise opted for a honey infused treat…

And Jenny’s play on words was as clever and the scone was tasty..
